Duties

As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Serve as joint operational planner responsible for organizing, coordinating and supporting activities in developing and executing joint planning groups.
  • Perform broad studies and assess potential impact pertaining to strategic deployment and distribution requirements. Evaluate deployment, distribution and logistics process effectiveness across theaters and provides input into logistics strategic planning.
  • Develop briefs, point papers, and other projects for presentation at senior executive level policy and decision meetings.
  • Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise (JDDE) subject matter expert, and Command representative to Chairman Joint Chief of Staff, Joint Staff, CCMDs, and Military Service conferences, working groups, and force flow conferences for strategy development, strategic assessments, campaign planning, operational planning, and operational assessments.
  • Provide advice on USTRANSCOM's current and future capabilities and status relative to deployment, distribution, and logistics.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Incorporate transportation requirements and concepts of the Defense Transportation System (DTS) applicable to air, sea, and surface transportation.
  • Apply analytical techniques, manipulate data, draw conclusions, and develop courses of action/recommendations based on results.
  • Plan, lead, organize, and manage projects and anticipate/identify logistics issues associated with logistics planning and transportation requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
