Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a System Test Engineer to join our GMASS team supporting the maintenance, sustainment, and modernization of six Ground Based Radars (five Upgraded Early Warning Radars [UEWR] and one Perimeter Acquisition Radar Characterization System [PARCS]) and associated integration laboratories. This role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer with experience in radar systems testing and a passion for supporting national defense missions.
Location: Colorado Springs, CO
Key Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement testing activities in laboratories or site locations
• Plan and arrange labor, schedules, and equipment needed for test and evaluation
• Specify parameters for sample testing and define/develop tests through creation of Test Plans, Descriptions, and Procedures
• Collect and compile data from tests and analyze results to recommend changes or verify requirements
• Develop technical specifications and documentation for test procedures and record results
• Ensure testing activities comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new test procedures or improve existing ones
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware/software updates during testing
• Maintain complete records of testing activities and results through the creation of Test Reports
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Advanced degree preferred)
• 4+ years of full-time professional experience in test engineering or related fields
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
• Experience preparing and executing comprehensive subsystem and enterprise-level test plans, descriptions, and procedures
• Ability to execute formal tests and prepare test reports for government delivery
• Ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite:
◦ Excel: Apply formulas, build tables, generate basic pivot tables
◦ Word: Format complex tables, integrate graphics/charts, execute mail merges
◦ PowerPoint: Create engaging presentations with animations and embedded tools
◦ Outlook: Manage email, calendar appointments, and contacts independently
Note: Lacking any one of these qualifications disqualifies a candidate from this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with system requirement elicitation, definition, and functional allocation to hardware/software components
• Proficiency in developing technical specifications and analyzing configurations to propose new system-level requirements
• Experience performing integration and formal test analysis for requirement selloff
• Background in Test and Evaluation at the system level for strategic, space, or missile warning missions
• Experience supporting Combatant Commands, Service-Level, or acquisition directorates
• Familiarity with documenting test requirements and methodologies in a requirements management system
• Ability to operate effectively in Agile software development environments using Scrum
Compensation:
• Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000 (compensation varies on position and relevant years of experience and education)
