The Logistics Support Specialist/Advisor provides expert-level support to the U.S. Department of State in contractor visa operations and transportation logistics. This role oversees visa coordination processes, manages local staff, and ensures compliance with Government of Iraq regulations. The advisor also handles project planning, tracking, and reporting for visa-related activities, drafts official diplomatic correspondence, and coordinates with multiple ministries and contractors. Secondary duties include support for food, fuel, and delivery logistics, making this a dynamic role at the intersection of personnel movement, government liaison, and logistical support.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for LOGISTICS SUPPORT SPECIALIST/ADVISOR: Pay commensurate with experience.

LOGISTICS SUPPORT SPECIALIST/ADVISOR Responsibilities Include:

The Logistics Support Specialist /Advisor, Level II provides technical advice and support to the Department of State and other agencies in contractor visa management and transportation logistics.

Assist DOS personnel with basic information gathering, creation and maintenance of related reports to include project planning, project management and logistics management.

Manage local visa staff in all aspects of visa related operations for contractor visas. Coordinate with third party contractor who facilitates the blood draw operation.

Review and report LMC contractor visa procedures for deficiencies, monitors and analyzes the performance of any transportation operations or contracts.

Serves as DOS contractor visa advisor; develop reports that summarize and forecast trends and highlight service shortfalls; work to implement various tracking and performance monitoring programs.

Advise DOS, other agencies, and contracting companies on the contractor visa processes. Support DOS in understanding, informing, and coordinating on special projects.

Provide training, guidance and assign workload to the visa coordinator staff for visa packet preparation to ensure timely submission to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Provide training, guidance and assign workload to the visa expeditor staff to maintain even distribution of contractor companies in accordance with Ministry of Interior guidelines.

Assist with the drafting and preparation of official correspondence via Diplomatic Note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Assist the Program Manager and LMC Director in the hiring process for LMC Local National contractor staff.

Assist the LMC Director in project planning and implementing all aspects of the visa process, from initial packet preparation to final visa activation.

Assist the LMC Director in project planning and continuing the objective of the Embassy self-performing the Ministry of Health mandated HIV testing at all Mission sites.

Submit Local National new hire information packet for vetting application.

Answer inquiries and requests for information regarding the contractor visa process. Vet contractors requesting special visa requests for DOS review.

Maintain the Contractor Visa SOP to reflect the most current Government of Iraq visa regulations.

Assist with the preparation of reports, performs basic information gathering regarding local trends and development as they may impact special projects; assist in problem solving, project planning, development of stated goals and objectives as well as assists in coordinating with non-government organizations.

In the absence of the Food and Fuel Advisor, provide guidance to the local IZ escort staff to support daily delivery missions into the IZ. Prepare monthly fuel allocation requests on behalf of DOS and DOD fuel vendors and reconciliation reports for the Oil Production Distribution Company. Interface with vendors and contractors regarding mission deliveries. Submit delivery driver information for vetting to gain IZ access.

In the absence of the LMC Administrative Coordinator, maintain various reports for DOS.

LOGISTICS SUPPORT SPECIALIST/ADVISOR Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

Minimum of a bachelor's degree with ten to fifteen (10-15) years of relevant experience is required.

Comprehensive knowledge of logistics systems and responsibilities

Knowledge of visa procedures.

Level 4/4 in English is required.
