The United States Space Force (USSF) at WPAFB, OH is searching for a Space and Counterspace Modeling and Simulation Physics-based Team Lead, NSIC (GG-0801-13).
Description:
Our team's mission is to provide event and scenario-based modeling and simulation capabilities that enable refined technical analysis of threat systems, weapon employment, and wargame support. We also support resiliency programs for US systems, ensuring the effectiveness and survivability of our nation's space-based assets. Our work directly supports space operators, policy makers, and acquisition/force modernization customers, providing insights and analysis needed to inform decision-making and drive strategic planning.
This position may be filled by an individual with the following degrees: Computer Science (1550 series), Math (1501 series), Engineering (08XX series) or related STEM degree.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of modeling and simulation engineers in the development, integration, and execution of modeling and simulation systems
- Design, develop, and implement modeling and simulation architectures using various programming languages (SysML, C++, Java, Python, MATLAB, etc.)
- Integrate and test simulation environments such as AFSIM, ITASE, STK, and other commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) tools
- Develop and apply modeling tools such as Cameo, Simulink, and other modeling frameworks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets
- Mentor and train team members to improve their technical skills and knowledge
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports
- Ensure compliance with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) and tradecraft standards, including ICD 203, ICD 206, and other relevant directives

We are seeking an exceptional Modeling & Simulation Integration Team Lead to join our team of innovative professionals. You will be responsible for leading a team of modeling and simulation engineers in the development, integration, and execution of complex modeling and simulation systems in support of national security missions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in programming languages, modeling tools, and working in multiple simulation environments, as well as excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills. Additionally, the candidate should have familiarity with Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) and tradecraft standards.
Key Skills and Abilities:
I. Professional knowledge of multi-disciplinary engineering (such as electronics, electrical, computer, aerospace, or mechanical disciplines, mathematics, computer science, or closely related fields) concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures to effectively apply engineering theories, principles, and concepts to the engineering design, analysis, and modeling & simulation (M&S) of threat systems.
2. Professional knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodologies of all-source scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) analysis, modeling and simulation, software development, and the Defense Intelligence Analysis Program (DIAP).
3. Expanded knowledge of the mission, role, function, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and Intelligence Community; and their communication and information infrastructures and organizations.
4. Skill and ability to gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning task progress and effectively communicate, including the presentation of technical problems and results in a logical and concise manner; skill and ability to apply practical thinking skills, attention to detail, balanced decision making, conceptual thinking, consistency, goal directedness, problem and situation analysis, reliability, and theoretical problem solving, emotional control, handling stress, initiative, job ethics, meeting standards, listening skills, personal accountability, commitment, and drive.

- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret /SCI security clearance.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- PCS/Incentive funding is not available.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignment.
