Overview
Metronome is seeking a Journeyman Software Developer (Back-End) to support the FS2 Aero team. In this role, you'll modify existing code, integrate software solutions, and support mission-driven applications for the Aeronautical Navigation Office. The ideal candidate has strong development skills in Python, C#, or Java, thrives in an Agile environment, and can collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve complex backend issues while improving system reliability and performance.

Overview
Metronome is seeking a Journeyman Software Developer (Back-End) to support the FS2 Aero team. In this role, you'll modify existing code, integrate software solutions, and support mission-driven applications for the Aeronautical Navigation Office. The ideal candidate has strong development skills in Python, C#, or Java, thrives in an Agile environment, and can collaborate with team members to diagnose and resolve complex backend issues while improving system reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate backend systems including REST APIs, databases, and applications.
- Modify existing GOTS code and integrate open-source solutions for use in web applications.
- Collaborate in Agile development activities, including standups, sprint planning, and increment reviews.
- Create, document, and test functionality within GitLab repositories using DevOps principles.
- Utilize cloud computing expertise and service-oriented environments (Cloud, SOA, Web Services) for system enhancements.
- Ensure proper unit testing, continuous integration, and delivery pipelines for new features.
- Participate in ticket assessments and deliver features aligned to User Story Acceptance Criteria.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of Python and C#/Java development experience.
- 4+ years with unit testing, continuous integration tools, and GitLab version control.
- Proficiency in REST API development, database integration, and backend frameworks.
- Knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript with exposure to Redux and React frameworks.
- Strong experience working in Agile environments with Jira/Confluence.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues in production systems.
- Active TS clearance (TS/SCI with Polygraph preferred).
- DoD 8570-compliant certification (Security+ or higher).
Desired Skills
- 4+ years of Linux and/or Windows system administration.
- 4+ years supporting DoD Aeronautical datasets.
- 4+ years of AWS CloudFormation template development.
- Experience with Node, NPM, Swashbuckle, REST API, and Sass.
- DevOps certification.
- Strong background with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
