Duties
Help
  • You will conduct curriculum and training safety inspections of multiple high-risk training locations.
  • You will maintain accountability for students' locations, medical fitness-to-train, and deficiencies that could impact safety guidelines.
  • You will maintain instructors' and students' aircrew training jackets and make appropriate training jacket entries to properly document successful or unsuccessful completion of student training events.
  • You will provide subject matter expertise and technical advice to the command Rescue Swimmer and Rescue Swimmer Instructor courses.
  • You will develop and maintain curricula, media presentations, and training programs for rescue swimmer courses.

  • Must obtain and maintain Instruction Qualifications meeting the requirements of Navy Enlisted Classification Code (NEC) 805A.
  • Must pass High Risk Instructor screening IAW OPNAV 1500.75 upon appointment.
  • Must have successfully completed or complete the following (or equivalent) upon appointment: Surface Rescue Swimmer or Aviation Rescue Swimmer School, Rescue Swimmer Instructor Training Course.
  • Must obtain and maintain American Red Cross and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructor certifications.
  • Comply with all governing instructions from NASC and Higher Headquarters as applicable.
  • Meet and maintain all requirements set forth in NASC and Higher Headquarters to be designated as a Navy High-Risk Training instructor.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Develops curricula, media presentations, and training programs for various rescue swimmer courses; 2) Conducts curriculum and training safety inspections of multiple high-risk locations for water survival and rescue swimming trainings; 3) Oversees qualifications, evaluations, emotional and physical health screenings, training, and documentation of instructors performing high-risk trainings; 4) Maintains instructor and student training jackets to properly document successful or unsuccessful completion of student training events; 5) Performs risk assessments of high-risk curricula, identifying deficiencies to develop new or modified instruction methods; 6) Develops standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety procedures, Pre-Mishap Plans, and Emergency Action Plans (EAP) to ensure standardization of rescue swimming and other high-risk instructional programs.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled.

Have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal one hundred percent.
