Responsibilities:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a motivated professional to serve as an Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) Principal Technical Writer/Editor (level 3) to join our diverse team of professionals located in Palmdale, CA.
The IPB Technical Writer/Editor primarily interprets technical engineering source material to write and edit technical documents and manuals. Specific activities include:

Primary Level Salary Range: $82,900.00 - $124,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Responsibilities:
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a motivated professional to serve as an Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB) Principal Technical Writer/Editor (level 3) to join our diverse team of professionals located in Palmdale, CA.
The IPB Technical Writer/Editor primarily interprets technical engineering source material to write and edit technical documents and manuals. Specific activities include:
- Derive information from released data and interactions with Engineers, product developers, and SMEs
- Acquire additional subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
- Identify and resolve moderate scope and complexity discrepancies within engineering drawings and blueprints that may impact data
- Coordinate findings with team members and refer findings to established precedents and policies to include consulting the engineering group and SMEs
- Assist in the review of products with the customer and can advise their proper use
Basic Qualifications:
- Must either have a Bachelor's degree (Technical or Professional Writing, English, or Communications) and 5 years of relevant experience . In lieu of formal education, 9 years relevant IPB job experience may be considered
- Proficient in interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading
- Experienced with creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity, indentured parts-lists from engineering and LSA data
- Experienced with isometric IPB graphics and layout
- Experienced with creating and reviewing IPBs using MIL-DTL-38807 or MIL-PRF-38807
- Experienced with military aircraft
- Experienced in negotiating and integrating different viewpoints, relay, and receive information and collaborate in a team environment
- Experienced in querying authors for clarity and compliance purposes and must be skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Candidate must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain that clear and ability to obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- History of collaboration in small teams with different organizations.
- Proficient in the interpretation of engineering data such as parts list, application list, notes list and print reading
- Experienced with configuration management
- Experienced in creating multi-configuration, multi-effectivity indentured parts lists from engineering data
- Ability to identify and possibly work around limited engineering data.
- Experienced with creating and revising IPB's using MIL-DTL-38807 or MIL-PRF-38807
