Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to design,
integrate, and support enterprise IT systems for a U.S. Government customer. The selected
candidate will lead technical efforts across multiple disciplines, ensuring systems are
designed, deployed, and maintained to meet performance, security, and operational
requirements.
This role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, the ability to architect and
implement complex solutions, and proficiency in collaborating across engineering,
architecture, and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and validate requirements for SharePoint, ServiceNow, Salesforce, and
custom applications.
• Serve as SharePoint Designer and implement low-code/no-code platform solutions.
• Lead matrixed technical teams to deliver integrated, scalable, and secure solutions.
• Provide architectural guidance and technical recommendations for enterprise
systems.
• Configure and administer Amazon Linux, Windows OS, Apache, Tomcat, Express
servers, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Automate provisioning and configuration of cloud resources using Bash, Terraform,
AWS CloudFormation.
• Integrate REST and SOAP web services and implement PKI certificates, TLS
encryption, and Oracle Wallet configurations.
• Support installation, maintenance, and integration of COTS products.
• Perform regression, unit, and acceptance testing, including automated test script
creation.
• Apply usability and accessibility standards, user research, and user-centered
design principles in application development.
• Conduct database administration, including patches, migrations, backups, and
recovery.
• Utilize DevOps tools (Jenkins, GitHub) to support CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor systems using approved tools and resolve issues to maintain SLA
compliance.
• Develop and conduct prototypes to demonstrate proposed solutions meet
requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, technical directors, and developers to define design
guidance, target platforms, and tools.
• Provide business and technical consulting for strategic objectives and technology
roadmaps.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions through cost-benefit analysis.
• Identify and address integration and interoperability challenges in system and
service development plans.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• Proven experience in systems engineering for enterprise environments.
• Expertise in cloud services, automation, and scripting.
• Proficiency in multiple development languages and frameworks (JavaScript, Java,
NodeJS, Angular, HTML, CSS, JSON, YAML, XML, Python, Spring, Hibernate).
• Advanced knowledge of database and server administration.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery, backlog management, and multi-stakeholder
coordination.
• Strong troubleshooting, optimization, and integration skills.
• Experience assessing and integrating emerging technologies.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Equivalent work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with COTS product integration.
• Familiarity with enterprise risk management and lifecycle planning.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
Preferred Certifications
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or equivalent Agile certification.
• Project Management Professional (PMP).
