Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Business Development Manager to join a fully remote (Seattle preferred; CO, DC, LA okay) DOD Program. The Business Development Manager will lead capture strategy for a space systems startup, focusing on shaping & securing major opportunities in the national security space sector..

Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager include:
  • Lead End-To End Capture Strategy: own the full capture lifecycle - from early opportunity shaping through proposal development & contract award - for major national security space programs
  • Identify & Influence Opportunities: proactively identify, shape, and influence government acquisition efforts before formal RFPs are released, especially within the DOD & Intelligence community
  • Build Strategic Relationships: develop & maintain trusted relationships with senior government stakeholders, program offices, & industry partners across the national security space ecosystem
  • Inform Product Development: collaborate with product & engineering teams to align solutions with mission needs, providing feedback based on customer pain points & operational gaps
  • Track Policy & Budget Trends: monitor acquisition trends, policy shifts, & budgetary developments to inform business strategy & uncover early-stage opportunities
  • Drive Growth & Performance: deliver on financial targets, grow existing business, & contribute to strategic market expansion in a fast-paced, resource-constrained startup environment

Qualifications of the Business Development Manager include:
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 1-2+ years in a business development or capture role at 1+ organization, with a track record of shaping & securing government contracts
  • Technical exposure to space systems - space related technologies such as satellite systems, ground control, launch vehicles, or radar systems
  • DOD/IC Experience, with a proven background working with DOD & Intel community stakeholders, including familiarity with acquisition processes & program offices
  • Strong communication & strategic thinking skills - able to present to senior executives, influence acquisition strategy, and collaborate across technical & leadership teams
  • Adaptability in fast-paced environments - demonstrated success in a startup or resource-constrained setting; high degree of ownership & initiative
  • Active TS/SCI (or TS with SCI eligibility)

Compensation for the Business Development Manager includes:
  • Salary Range: $120,000-$150,000 + bonus **depending on experience** ( OTE: Up to $300K (1:1))
