Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a well-qualified and motivated individual to serve as an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) - Level 3. This position offers the opportunity to join a high-performing team committed to supporting critical national security missions.
The ISSO is responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of classified information systems, including the planning, deployment, and maintenance of secure environments in compliance with government cybersecurity regulations. This includes ensuring alignment with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), Joint Special Access Program (SAP) Implementation Guide (JSIG), and/or Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) security requirements.
The ISSO ensures systems are authorized for operation, maintain ongoing compliance, and meet all security objectives throughout their operational lifecycle. This role involves close coordination with stakeholders to navigate system approvals and enforce security best practices.
The ideal candidate will have current experience in cybersecurity and security management within the U.S. Government, Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community, or DoD contractor environment.
Skills / Experience
* Current TS/SCI SAP Eligible
* Manage deployment, installation, and oversight of unclassified and classified information systems (IS) within SCIF/SAPF environments (e.g., NIPR, SIPR, SGN, AF7, JWICS, COE)
* Perform technical administration of IS in accordance with Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements
* Meet Core and Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Tasks (KSATs) for DCWF Work Role 612 (NIST: SP-RM-002)
* Monitor, analyze, and respond to network and cybersecurity events
* Support Assessment and Authorization (A&A), Interim Authority to Test (IATT), and
* Authority to Operate (ATO) activities including POA&M development, control implementation, and continuous monitoring
* Apply knowledge of ICD requirements and RMF implementation
* Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, and cybersecurity personnel to assess and maintain system security posture
* Maintain and document system security artifacts in alignment with NIST SP 800-53 or customer-specific policies
* Conduct periodic security reviews and support audits and inspections
* Apply ICD 503 using the Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) or NIST 800-53
* Ensure secure operation, maintenance, and disposal of systems in compliance with approved security plans
* Manage remediation of vulnerabilities and monitor user activities
* Utilize industry-standard Information Assurance tools
* Demonstrate technical proficiency with Windows and/or UNIX-based operating systems and their security requirements
* Support acquisition and integration of DISA circuits
* Serve as alternate COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO)
* Provide monthly system documentation updates, cybersecurity status reports, and executive briefings
Education / Certifications
* Bachelor's degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE institution and/or 4 - 8+ years of ISSE, System Administer, or ISSO experience
* DoD 8570 / 8140 IAT Level II certification
* COMPTIA Net+, Sec+ Certified (preferred)
