Position Overview:
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator with a strong DevOps background to help maintain mission-critical legacy applications while driving the transition to a next-generation, cloud-agnostic architecture. This role offers the opportunity to shape systems that directly impact national mission success while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
You will be at the intersection of system administration, DevOps engineering, and cloud modernization, implementing automation, container orchestration, and CI/CD best practices to ensure secure, scalable, and resilient systems.
Key Responsibilities:
-Maintain & Modernize: Support existing mission systems while planning and executing migration to modern architectures.
-DevOps Enablement: Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to accelerate secure software delivery.
-Container Orchestration: Deploy and manage Kubernetes/Docker-based workloads across diverse environments.
-Infrastructure Automation: Develop scripts, tooling, and Infrastructure-as-Code for cloud-agnostic deployments.
-Security Integration: Incorporate automated testing and compliance checks into build and release pipelines.
-Agile Delivery: Collaborate with cross-functional teams in iterative development cycles to meet technical and mission goals.
-System Reliability: Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance.
Required Qualifications:
-5+ years in DevOps, Systems Administration, or related engineering roles.
-3+ years hands-on with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
-3+ years with Kubernetes and Docker in production environments.
-Proven success in cloud-agnostic deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP, private cloud).
-Experience integrating automated testing frameworks into CI/CD pipelines.
-Strong Linux administration skills.
-Scripting experience (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation and tooling.
-Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery.
-Proficient with Git for version control.
Preferred Skills:
-Building and maintaining security-hardened container images.
-Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
-Exposure to secure government environments or classified systems.
Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field preferred.
-Equivalent experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
