Blue Sky is seeking a Mainframe Developer to support an agency in partnership with Blue Sky, delivering high-reliability software development and maintenance for large-scale legacy systems. This role emphasized stability, batch processing, and system optimization in a hybrid work environment.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance core mainframe applications to support mission-critical operations.
• Write, debug, and optimize COBOL and CICS code for high-throughput environments.
• Design and manage batch job processing workflows using Job Control Language (JCL), ensuring system efficiency and data accuracy.
• Utilize TSO for time-sharing operations and hands-on troubleshooting within the mainframe environment.
• Collaborate across functional teams—including QA, project management, and infrastructure—to align solutions with evolving business requirements.
• Lead root-cause analysis for production incidents, optimized legacy code for performance, and authored detailed documentation for future support and enhancements.
• Adapt quickly to client-specific processes and protocols while maintaining a strong focus on secure, quality-driven delivery.
• Support additional tasks within the scope of mainframe development as required by the client’s evolving needs.
Nice to Have Contributions:
• Applied familiarity with CA-IDEAL and CA Datacomm to contribute to improved system interfacing and data handling.
• Assisted in knowledge-sharing sessions with junior developers and participated in architecture discussions regarding modernization strategy.
