Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Engineer to design, implement, and maintain advanced HVAC control systems for our federal and commercial clients. The ideal candidate must have hands-on expertise with Johnson Controls systems and a strong background in building automation systems (BAS) to deliver cutting-edge solutions for complex projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, program, and commission HVAC control systems, with a focus on Johnson Controls products (e.g., Metasys, Facility Explorer).
Integrate and troubleshoot building automation systems to meet the specific needs of federal facilities (e.g., courthouses, military bases) and commercial properties (e.g., offices, hospitals).
Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless system installation and compliance with project requirements.
Perform system diagnostics, maintenance, and retro-commissioning to optimize energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
Develop and document control sequences, wiring diagrams, and point lists tailored to federal and commercial applications.
Provide technical support and training to federal agencies and commercial clients on system operations.
Ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., GSA standards), local codes, and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE, LEED).
Stay current with advancements in HVAC controls and building automation technologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in HVAC controls engineering, with specific expertise in Johnson Controls systems (Metasys, Facility Explorer, etc.).
Proven experience working on federal and commercial projects, such as government buildings or large-scale commercial facilities.
Proficiency in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting building automation systems (BAS).
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and VAV systems.
Familiarity with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to federal and commercial project sites as needed.
Preferred: Certification in Johnson Controls systems or other BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Distech, or Siemens).
MUST be a US CITIZEN in order to access job sites, which are located on US military installations.
