ASIC/FPGA Design Engineer

Bloomington, MN

Contract Position

Pay Estimated: $59.13-$64.13/Hour

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors, (geographical location, etc.)

Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance

Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.

Responsibilities:
  • Define architecture, module interfaces, and detailed design for FPGA and ASIC components.
  • Perform system simulation, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, and power estimation.
  • Create test and simulation plans, verify test results, and analyze performance.
  • Evaluate and utilize vendor tools, libraries, and foundry technologies.
  • Participate in and improve organizational processes related to ASIC/FPGA development.
  • Review customer design proposals, specifications, and technical documentation for feasibility.
  • Select components and tools based on reliability, performance, and technical specifications.
  • Support technical documentation throughout the design lifecycle using standard tools and processes.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams and provide guidance to junior engineers.
  • Contribute to the successful completion of major design milestones and technical reviews.
  • Independently plan and execute project tasks in alignment with program goals.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field
    • Master's degree accepted with fewer years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor's or 3+ years with a Master's in ASIC/FPGA design
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance
  • Proficiency in:
    • FPGA/ASIC architecture and design
    • HDL coding (VHDL, Verilog)
    • Simulation, synthesis, place and route, timing analysis
    • ASIC/FPGA development tools (e.g., ModelSim, Vivado, Synplify, Quartus, etc.)
    • Functional and gate-level simulation
  • Strong understanding of device libraries, power/performance tradeoffs, and hardware integration
