MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Associate Systems Engineer to join our team in the National Capital Region (NCR). This is a hybrid position .

As an Associate Systems Engineer, this individual will contribute to the foundational design and implementation of IT systems and software for government desktop services. This is an excellent opportunity for new graduates to begin a career supporting vital federal IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Contribute to maintaining a secure and efficient IT environment for government users.
  • Support the design, development, and implementation of systems and software for government desktop services.
  • Assist in testing and debugging software to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Contribute to documentation of system architectures and software designs.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to learn and apply best practices in systems engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with government IT security standards and policies.
  • Performs engineering activities as directed to support the DHS mission


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 1+ years of experience Experience working on cross functional teams. Experience utilizing Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of network architecture, protocols (TCP/IP, etc.), and security principles is essential.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, VirtualBox, etc.) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of software development life cycles and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#).
  • Strong foundational knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Eagerness to learn and contribute to a government IT support environment.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain active Secret Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain a DHS Suitability


Physical Requirements:
  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
