MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Certified Welder to join our vehicle sustainment team in Erbil, Iraq. The selected candidate will provide maintenance and logistics support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.
Please Note: For positions requiring welding skills, candidates must successfully pass a standardized certification test in accordance with AWS D1.1 and MANTECH Weld Procedures. Failure to validate welding proficiency may result in withdrawal of the offer or termination. Maintaining certification and the ability to perform assigned duties is a condition of continued employment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform complex welding operations on ballistic hulls and metals using MIG, TIG, ARC, FCAW, and SMAW processes; interpret blueprints and technical documentation to execute precise assembly within strict tolerances.
- Design or review simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation, and instrumentation systems using engineering methods to ensure they meet specifications; conduct calculations, tests, and field evaluations to support system functionality.
- Research, plan, and develop new applications for electromechanical systems; review contractor standards and provide technical input for continuous improvement or hardware upgrades.
- Guide and assist technicians in the fabrication and installation of mechanical systems to ensure conformance with design and safety standards; recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
- Support the development and documentation of instructional materials, technical manuals, and maintenance guides; contribute to design feedback for proprietary defense systems.
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and MANTECH procedures throughout welding and assembly operations; participate in Configuration Control activities when required.
- Travel to OCONUS locations, including potentially hostile environments in Southwest and South-Central Asia, while meeting U.S. government IRDO/CRC readiness requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum of thirteen (13) years of hands-on welding experience, including techniques such as MIG, TIG, and ARC.
- Must hold a valid AWS D1.1 certification.
- Demonstrated proficiency with FCAW and SMAW welding processes.
- Strong institutional knowledge of electromechanical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, acquired through direct military or commercial equipment support.
- Ability to meet government physical deployment standards and travel extensively to both CONUS and OCONUS locations, including hostile zones.
- Must be able to obtain a Visa prior to deployment and meet IRDO/CRC requirements.
- Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver's License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a U.S. Passport valid for at least two years beyond the start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous maintenance experience with MRAP Family of Vehicles (FOV) or RCV systems.
- Experience operating or maintaining systems in hostile environments.
- Willingness to deploy to Southwest and South-Central Asia, often under demanding conditions.
- Familiarity with ballistic hull welding and blueprint-driven fabrication.
- Ability to contribute to engineering design feedback and technical documentation.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current/active Secret Clearance.

- Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch, and kneel.
- Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
- Must be able to work in high-noise environments.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and small parts.
- Must be able to use computers and CRTs, and type on a standard keyboard.
