Anika Systems is seeking a highly skilled Technical Writer to support a federal contract in the Washington, DC area. The selected candidate will contribute to the success of a cross-functional IT communications team, supporting efforts across enterprise architecture and IT governance initiatives. This role is responsible for producing a wide range of documentation including system and process documentation, technical guides, developer-facing resources, and user support materials.
This position is partly on-site in the Washington, DC area and candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the IT communications team by creating clear, concise technical content aligned with enterprise architecture and IT governance efforts.
- Prepare, review, revise, and maintain documentation related to:
- Software and systems
- IT engineering and operations
- Installation and configuration
- Implementation and end-user guides
- Developer code and process documentation
- Field-level and data flow documentation
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to ensure documentation accurately reflects system capabilities, user needs, and architectural standards.
- Translate complex technical concepts and terminology into user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Lead and maintain internal documentation processes, templates, and quality assurance standards.
- Evaluate and enhance existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and compliance with established guidelines.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5+ years of experience as a technical writer in a federal or defense IT environment
- Proven ability to synthesize and document complex technical content
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Experience documenting topics related to SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
- Expertise in federal IT governance policies, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with federal IT reporting frameworks, including CPIC and TBM.
- Experience working with dashboards and reporting tools to provide actionable insights.
- Proficiency in formatting, templating, and producing professional technical documentation
- Experience supporting enterprise architecture and IT governance functions
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
