Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

This position works as part of a team within the Nondestructive Solutions Development department responsible for developing, testing, maintaining and updating software related to advanced nondestructive methods and signal processing. Major aspects of this position include analyzing information, general programming, software design, software debugging, software documentation, software testing, and problem solving. This position is on-site and will require relocation to Birmingham, Alabama.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Support a multi-disciplinary team (mechanical, electrical, software engineering) to efficiently execute solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform software development for advanced ultrasonic technologies, including complex algorithms and integration with hardware.
  • Perform software development for complex shape scanning, including passive (manual) and active (robotic) encoding approaches.
  • Apply engineering concepts, theories, and practices in creative and innovative ways.
  • Prepare documentation such as user's manuals and reports for customers.
Other Job Functions
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with internal and external customers.
  • Support customer training and customer support activities.
  • Support project development activities.
  • Perform other duties as required by supervisor.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities but opens opportunities to develop leadership skills and advance within the company.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications:
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET.
  • BS Degree in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or related field.
  • One to three years of experience in programming (Python preferred).
  • Strong aptitude in logic and math in addition to having the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly in a dynamic, highly technical environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated to continually expand knowledge and skills related to this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One or more years of hardware/software integration experience.
  • One year of machine learning experience.
  • Established abilities in parallel processing, user interface development, software testing and documentation.
Travel

Moderate travel, domestic and international, required.
