Job Description:
The Information Assurance Specialist supports DLA’s cybersecurity and audit readiness efforts by validating controls across unclassified networks, applications, and systems. The specialist ensures compliance with federal and DoD standards and contributes to audit and risk management initiatives.
• Conduct IT audits on complex systems to verify control implementation and compliance.
• Perform procedures to safeguard information systems from unauthorized access or destruction.
• Support audit readiness for Financial Statement Audit, SSAE-18, and Annual Statement of Assurance.
• Conduct control validation exercises to assess the effectiveness of current security measures.
• Provide technical evaluations and recommendations for improving system security.
• Analyze business needs versus security requirements and assess mitigation strategies.
• Interface with stakeholders including PMO, ISSMs, and DLA CERT for log review and cybersecurity event reporting.
Qualifications (Must Haves):
• Two (2) years of experience working with DOD1 8500.2 or NIST SP 800-53 and understanding of the principles of the risk management framework.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving security issues.
• Proficiency in basic analytical software such as Microsoft Excel and Access, proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, to include Word, PowerPoint.
• Understanding of Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
• Understands the concept of weighing business needs against security concerns.
• Experience analyzing applied mitigations to evaluate whether they meet security requirements.
• DoD Approved 8570 Baseline Certification: Category IAM-I or minimum of IAT-II.
• Must possess an active Secret clearance.
