Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support the secure deployment and operation of mission-critical information systems.

The ISSO is responsible for negotiating and facilitating the request, deployment, and operationalization of various customer information systems. They are responsible for ensuring that systems comply with relevant security standards and regulations, such as those mandated by the Risk Management Framework (RMF) / Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG) / and DIA requirements.

This role requires hands-on experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), Joint SAP Implementation Guide (JSIG), and DIA security requirements, with a strong emphasis on system accreditation, authorization, and compliance. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with both technical and leadership teams to ensure systems meet required security standards. Must be DoD 8570/8140 Cyber workforce certified.

Pay: $60 - $70 an hour

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary ISSO for assigned systems, guiding them through the Authorization to Operate (ATO) process.
  • Ensure continuous compliance with applicable cybersecurity policies, including RMF, JSIG, and DIA requirements.
  • Coordinate with system owners, engineers, and stakeholders to develop, review, and maintain security documentation (SSPs, POA&Ms, RARs, etc.).
  • Support security assessments and audits by internal and external organizations.
  • Monitor system security controls and maintains situational awareness of the system's cybersecurity posture.
  • Facilitate remediation of vulnerabilities and track implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support risk analysis, security incident response, and reporting procedures as needed.
  • Maintain required certifications in accordance with DoD 8570 / 8140 Cyber Workforce regulations.


Experience Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (TS/SCI).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as an ISSO supporting DoD or IC systems.
  • Active DoD 8570/8140 Cyber Workforce certification (e.g., Security+, CISSP, CISM, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of RMF, JSIG, and relevant government security frameworks.
  • Experience with ATO processes and security documentation development.
  • Strong understanding of system hardening, vulnerability management, and compliance monitoring.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with eMASS or other government accreditation tools.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
