The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division (JOID) provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.
JOID assists the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in developing leading edge technologies to counter WMD in support of Combatant Commands (CCMDs) and transitioning these technologies to DoD CCMDs. SPA provides expertise across the full range of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high-yield explosives (CBRNE) WMD, Counter Improvised Threat and Countering Threat Network technologies to support understanding, detection, identification, characterization, denial, control, disabling, defeating, disposing, safeguarding the force, managing consequences, and test and evaluation in support of military and civilian operations.
We have a near-term need for a Data Analyst to provide onsite support out of SPA's Lorton, VA facility (near Fort Belvoir).

Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will use advanced data analytics, statistical modeling, and visualization expertise to support decision making across scientific and operational programs. Leveraging experience with biotechnology, will be responsible for working with complex datasets, performing exploratory and predictive analyses and modeling. The analyst will collaborate with scientists and engineers to identify patterns, improve processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards if applicable. Key responsibilities include using analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, or Tableau to analyze and visualize data, and design dashboards and reports that support decision making. Other responsibilities include automating data processing and analysis workflows while documenting analytical methods and presenting findings to both technical contributors and senior leadership. This position requires both technical insight, industry knowledge, and strong communication skills to effectively transform data into solutions that support the warfighter.

Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in data analytics, data science, or a closely related field with 5+ years of experience
- Strong background in data analytics, including data analysis, statistical modeling, machine learning, and predictive modeling
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python, R, SQL, Tableau, and other analytical and visualization tools
- Experience in transforming and integrating large datasets from multiple sources
- Proven ability to present data insights to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Knowledge of regulated industries, such as biotechnology and pharmaceuticals
- Excellent communication skills, documentation abilities, and collaborative mindset
- Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret clearance
- Able to work fully onsite based on client needs
Desired:
- Experience designing predictive models using advanced machine learning algorithms
- Familiarity with software analytics platforms (IBM Watson Studio, Spotfire, etc.)
- Knowledge of quality management systems, compliance, and process improvement methods
- Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the PMI
- Experience with the Chemical Biological Defense Program (CBDP)
