Senior Cloud Functional Specialist / Functional Expert

This position requires an Active Secret Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.. This is a remote position, however candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA. This position is contingent on award.

Day in the life:

• Lead the functional design of complex cloud-based solutions across multiple business domains
• Provide expert guidance on leveraging cloud services to achieve strategic business objectives and competitive advantage
• Elicit, analyze, and document highly complex and often ambiguous business and functional requirements
• Proactively identify dependencies, gaps, and potential conflicts, translating them into clear specifications for technical teams
• Act as a subject matter expert for multiple cloud services within a chosen platform (e.g., advanced features of AWS SageMaker, Azure Synapse, GCP Cloud Spanner)
• Lead initiatives to analyze, re-engineer, and optimize core business processes by deeply integrating cloud capabilities. Drive change management efforts related to new cloud-enabled workflows
• Define comprehensive functional test strategies, lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for complex solutions, and work closely with QA teams to ensure all functional requirements are met and solutions are robust
• Manage relationships with senior business stakeholders, serving as the primary functional point of contact. Facilitate workshops, present solution designs, and effectively communicate complex functional concepts to diverse audiences, including executives
• Mentor and guide junior functional specialists, contributing to their professional development
• Develop and disseminate functional expertise across the organization, creating best practice documentation and training programs
• Work effectively with cloud vendors and implementation partners to ensure proposed solutions align with business needs and platform capabilities. Evaluate new cloud offerings for functional applicabilit
• Act as a functional escalation point for complex issues, conducting deep-dive analysis to identify root causes and recommending solutions or workarounds

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 7 years of relevant experience, Associate degree with 9 years of relevant experience, or 11 years relevant experience with no degree
• Active Secret clearance
• US Citizenship
• 7+ years of progressive experience in a functional specialist, functional expert, or business analyst role with a strong focus on cloud technologies, cloud-native applications, or major cloud-based enterprise software implementations
• In-depth understanding and hands-on experience with core and advanced services in at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP). This includes compute, storage, networking, databases, security, data analytics, and potentially AI/ML services
• Proven expertise in configuring, customizing, and optimizing cloud services for specific business domains (e.g., Finance, Supply Chain, HR, CRM, Data & Analytics, Manufacturing)
• Demonstrated mastery in advanced requirements elicitation techniques (e.g., workshops, prototyping, use cases), analysis, and documentation for large-scale cloud projects
• Strong analytical skills with extensive experience in modeling, analyzing, and re-designing complex business processes
• Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. Ability to articulate complex functional designs and business impacts clearly and concisely to executive leadership and technical teams
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder landscapes, build consensus, and drive decisions
• Demonstrated ability to lead functional design efforts, mentor junior team members, and foster collaboration within cross-functional teams
• Superior problem-solving abilities, capable of breaking down highly ambiguous problems and developing pragmatic, cloud-enabled solutions

Preferred Skills:
Certifications (Highly Preferred): Professional-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate/Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect) are highly advantageous.

Benefit selection, customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, and clearance status will influence the final salary.
Full benefits: $178,000 to $223,000 annually
Reduced benefits (no medical, dental, vision): Up to $242,000 annually
