Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide architectural and technical leadership to a small, highly dedicated team operating in a dynamic and flexible environment to serve continuously evolving client needs.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable cloud and on-premises infrastructure for large-scale document and case management applications. Guide cross-functional teams to optimize and scale data pipelines for ingesting, conditioning, and storing diverse data sources to support comprehensive analysis, especially of image and video.
- Lead the standardization and institutionalization of core data and case processing tools and infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration across client workflows.
- Architect and lead the design of user-friendly case management and records management capabilities, built from commercial and open source components. Architect and oversee the integration of foundational systems to support advanced capabilities, such as AI/ML in cloud environments, ensuring high performance and reliability. Architect and lead the design to expand existing and newly created capabilities for continuously emerging user needs, operating in a highly dynamic and flexible environment.
- Define architectural design decisions affecting selection, design, and instantiation of infrastructure and environment to meet functional and nonfunctional architectural requirements. These environments will typically be cloud-based but may include on-premises. Decisions include evaluating choice of cloud and comparison with on-premises when applicable.
- Work closely with development and data science teams to ensure infrastructure supports the solution life cycle, including continuous integration and deployment as applicable. Identify and document cloud and legacy system architectural design risks for selected architectural design.
- Facilitate the transition to new technical environments, including cloud and infrastructure, ensuring secure data transfer and tool integration. Collaborate with client representatives to assess and recommend networking and environment configurations to enhance data connectivity and transport.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical area. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 12 (10 with Master's) years of experience in software or system architecture and design. At least 5 years of experience in developing secure cloud solutions with one or more major cloud service providers (IBM, AWS, MS Azure, Oracle and Google), including at least 2 years with AWS. Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- Proven experience with agile methodologies and technical leadership skill. Strong oral and written communication skills, including client-facing discussions and presentations.
- Proficiency in architecting and designing cloud environments and infrastructure, including AWS services. Must understand the tradeoffs when choosing services and approaches to system design.
- Experience with architectures supporting full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and/or Machine Learning Operations (MLOps). Familiarity with machine learning and generative AI, object-oriented programming languages, cybersecurity, and relational databases.
- Experience with containerization and microservices solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenShift). Security Plus or equivalent certification, or ability to obtain such certification.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including Python. Knowledge and experience working with federal compliance and guidance, such as FISMA, RMF, Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework, DoDAF, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST 800 series, FedRAMP and cloud-based security controls.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience with AWS Direct Connect and other data connectivity solutions.
- Familiarity with integrating advanced technical capabilities, including tools from organizations such as GTRI and MIT's Lincoln Labs.
- Strong understanding of ICD 203 compliance and NARA records management standards.
- Knowledge of data lifecycle management and data normalization techniques. Experience with integrating case management tools with organizational IAM systems and existing communication channels.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must possess a current and active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
