TMC is in immediate need of a Principal Systems Engineer (Storage) to support our federal client located in Pocatello, Idaho. This position is responsible for design, deployment, testing, certification, patching, addressing interoperability issues, not only of the base storage & backup system, but for all features, components and application dependencies to include Storage Area Network (SAN), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Tape, local disk, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, etc. Due to federal contract requirements, the candidate must possess a US Citizenship and an active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility.
Position requirements and duties of the Principal Systems Engineer (Storage) include the following:
- Understanding of requirements based engineering for providing scalable solutions.
- Experience supporting highly available enterprise grade storage arrays and storage networking equipment.
- Experience with NAS/file storage protocols such as SMB/CIFS, NFS v3 + v4.
- Experienced with ISCSI and/or Fiber Channel Fabric connections to switches and arrays.
- Functional knowledge and experience with Windows Server operating system and Active Directory/LDAP, DNS, NTP, Kerberos; specifically how these affect network file system storage access in windows.
- Experience with Windows NTFS security settings, Windows ACLs, VSS snapshots.
- Experience managing Windows Distributed File System (DFS) for SMB HA.
- Experience with file based data migrations utilizing applications like Robocopy and rsync.
- Ability to solve complex infrastructure storage problems possibly spanning multiple disciplines.
- Methodical approach to procedure documentation using the Confluence wiki in combination with the MS Office suite.
- Methodical approach to change execution and implementation to avoid risk and downtime in an enterprise environment.
Desired skills include the following:
- Deep understanding of storage concepts like RAID, RAID Levels, hard disk technology, disk/device tiering (HSM), disk cache, compression, data-deduplication, replication, snapshots, and host multipathing.
- Deep understanding of block, file, and object based storage as well as their appropriate use cases.
- Demonstrated experience with Linux (RHEL) and/or Unix and familiarity with command-line administration is a plus.
- Understanding of POSIX OS ACLs/mode-bits as it pertains to file system permissions.
- Experienced with configuring and maintaining Brocade and Cisco fabric switches is a plus.
- Familiarity with Virtualization, specifically VMware vcenter/vsphere/vsan as it pertains to thin provisioning storage and data reduction.
- Familiarity with vmware VMFS and vVols.
- Storage focused certification such as from SNIA or a vendor like EMC, Netapp, Pure etc.
- Experience with Ansible and/or Infrastructure-as-code techniques are a plus.
- Knowledge of shell scripting is a plus. (Powershell, bash, python, or perl)
- Knowledge of working with REST API in scripting is a plus.
