Job Summary
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking a highly qualified Senior Training Specialist L4 to support the Army Space Cadre Basic Course (ASCBC) under the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (USASMDC). This role plays a critical part in preparing Soldiers, Department of the Army Civilians, and Contractors for integration into the Army Space Cadre by delivering foundational education in space operations, doctrine, and capabilities.
The selected candidate will lead course design, curriculum development, and instruction aligned with current Army and joint space doctrine. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of military space operations, instructional systems design (ISD), and the ability to operate in both classified and unclassified environments.
Skills / Experience Required
* Active TS/SCI (required)
* 12-14 years of experience in military operations, space operations, or Army instruction/training development roles
* 5+ years supporting Army or joint space missions, preferably within USASMDC, USSPACECOM, or STRATCOM
* Demonstrated experience delivering training to military audiences, including officers, warrant officers, NCOs, and civilians
* Strong understanding of Army space operations, including space force enhancement, space control, and space support functions
* Experience with Army training systems and platforms (e.g., DTMS, Blackboard, JKO)
* Familiarity with Army and joint doctrine related to space operations (e.g., JP 3-14, FM 3-14, ATP 3-27.11)
* Demonstrated ability with lesson plan development, training evaluation, and AAR facilitation
* Experience conducting instruction in classified environments (e.g., SIPR, JWICS) with appropriate security protocols
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present complex material to diverse military audiences
* Prior instructor experiences supporting USASMDC, the Army Space Personnel Development Office (ASPDO), or other space-related schoolhouses
* Experience in space-related career fields such as FA40 (Army Space Operations Officer) or 1C6/13S (USAF equivalents)
* Operational knowledge of space systems such as SATCOM terminals, GPS receivers, missile warning platforms, or SSA tools
* Participation in operational planning, exercises (e.g., Warfighter, JWA), or space integration with land component operations
* Lead classroom instruction for ASCBC students, delivering courseware aligned with Army and joint space doctrine (e.g., JP 3-14, FM 3-14, ADP 3-0)
* Apply Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles (e.g., ADDIE model) to update curriculum and lesson plans
* Facilitate learning in both classified and unclassified environments, using visual aids, simulations, and student-led exercises
* Integrate space support operations into operational context, including SATCOM, missile warning, GPS/PNT, ISR, and space-based capabilities
* Collaborate with doctrine developers, Army space professionals, and joint space instructors to ensure training accuracy and mission relevance
* Maintain training records, evaluation data, and student feedback in accordance with USASMDC and DoD training standards
* Conduct training needs analysis and task validation to ensure alignment with evolving operational and doctrinal guidance
* Support student assessments, after-action reviews (AARs), and continuous curriculum improvement initiatives
* Provide mentorship and subject matter expertise for new instructors and cadre integration
Education / Certifications
* Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Space Studies, Engineering, Military Science, Instructional Technology, or similar)
* Graduate-level education preferred (e.g., Master's in National Security, Education, or Space Operations)
* Army Basic Instructor Course (ABIC) or Foundation Instructor Facilitator Course (FIFC) (preferred or must complete upon hire)
* Familiarity with the ADDIE model and Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodology
* Army Learning Management System (ALMS) or related LMS experience (preferred)
