We are looking for you to join our team as a Manager Engineering 1 to lead a group of engineers based out of Buffalo, NY supporting the Amherst Systems Operating Unit (OU). What You'll Get to Do:
The Manager Engineering 1 will lead a team of Engineers and Technicians working to support all manufacturing operations at the Buffalo, NY campus. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. The ideal candidate will be able to work individually as well as collaborate with a diverse group of individuals in a cross-functional team environment, work tactically, but with an eye towards future strategy, and exhibit solid communication skills while acting as the representative voice for the technical and continuous improvement arm of the manufacturing team.

Salary Range: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

What You'll Get to Do:
- Manage capital projects to support new and existing technologies.
- Management of manufacturing assets and tracking of their calibration/repair.
- Lead the Lean Six Sigma / 5S initiatives for the Manufacturing Organization.
- Continually work to grow Manufacturing's capabilities and scope.
- Coach and mentor team in both discipline-specific technical and interpersonal skills in support of manufacturing activities.
- Help facilitate a high level of manufacturing involvement early in the product design process.
- Provide project and technical oversight of activities performed by the group
- Support proposals by providing inputs and cost estimates for both internal and external customers.
- Present work products at program reviews, proposals, or other project meetings
- Create new and modify existing instructions with necessary operations to support the build/test sequence, while also including specifications/quality requirements.
- Ensure team members are familiar with and use the required engineering processes, procedures, and tools.
- Participate in a performance based and metrics driven culture.
- Facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters.
- Leadership for support and adherence to standard processes.
- Cultivate an inclusive and engaging workplace. Ensure employees' work-life balance is appropriate.
- Forecast staffing needs and workload; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring, and career development; provide employee training and identify necessary skills for program execution; manage employee performance reviews; and lead a multitude of functional management processes.
- Demonstrate excellence in written and oral communication skills along with proven success working in an integrated product team environment.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or STEM related discipline with 5 years of related experience; or a Master's degree in an engineering discipline with 3 years of engineering experience.
- 5 or more years of engineering and/or manufacturing technology experience.
- Mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing or production processes experience.
- 5S or lean manufacturing experience.
- 1 or more years of leadership experience.
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical experience testing Microwave, Radio Frequency, and Digital microelectronics products.
- Experience as a manager with direct reports.
- Experience leading large cross-functional development projects.
- Experience with a variety of industry standards (including but not limited to IPC-610, J-STD, 7711/7721, MIL and ANSI).
- Experience with spreadsheets and database collection (i.e. Excel; Access).
- Experience working with SAP/Teamcenter in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Manufacturing management experience.
- Active Secret Clearance.
