Duties
Help
  • Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist with responsibility to ensure effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer computing requirements for assigned systems and applications.
  • Provides expert technical guidance, interpretation, and implementation of applicable information security policies, processes, and practices to ensure continued availability and integrity of enterprise applications, systems, networks, and data.
  • Prepares and presents cogent and cohesive analyses and briefings advising management leadership on new technological developments, techniques, and enhancements that result in increased time and cost efficiencies.
  • Develops and implements systems diagnostic and maintenance tools to ensure the availability and functionality of systems required to support organizational objectives.
  • Manages the installation of software and hardware, systems fixes, updates and enhancements. Installs, configures and tests software on servers in a distributed enterprise architecture.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:

Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.
Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.
Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience:
To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

My resume clearly demonstrates my qualifying experience planning, scheduling, installing and configuring commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and Government off-the-shelf (GOTS) applications and software/hardware, responding to new threats to systems to ensure confidentiality, and briefings advising management leadership.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.
  • If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.
  • This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.
  • A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.
  • Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination

  • In accordance with DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subjected to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements in 12 months and any future Cybersecurity Workforce qualification/credentialing requirements as defined by the DoD 8140 policy series for the position's required CYBER Work Role(s).

  • Recruitment, relocation, or retention incentives MAY be authorized.
