ABOUT THE TEAM

Air Dominance & Strike (AD&S) is one of Anduril's Business Lines and is focused on positioning Anduril as a lead provider of autonomy capability for multi-domain platforms. We work with customers to understand their requirements, shape their concepts of operation, and scale capability across their problem set. We aim to develop and deploy critically needed capabilities to our government partners and customers.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are looking for a Head of Sustainability Engineering to join our rapidly growing team in Costa Mesa, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for
  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the sustainment engineering department
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the autonomous aircraft fleet
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians in conducting thorough inspections and maintenance of the fleet
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and efficient completion of maintenance tasks and compliance with industry regulations
  • Monitor and analyze aircraft performance data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for updates or modifications
  • Stay current on industry advancements and technological developments in order to continuously improve the fleet's performance
  • Manage the department's budget and resources to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback and guidance to team members
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and high-quality repairs and maintenance services
  • Communicate with senior management on the status of fleet engineering operations and recommend any necessary changes or improvements
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company policies and procedures
  • Participate in decision-making processes for fleet upgrades, acquisitions, and retirements
  • Act as a liaison between the sustainment engineering department and other departments to ensure smooth and effective communication and collaboration
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, excellence, and continuous improvement
  • WHAT YOU'LL DO
    • Fleet/propulsion/component/avionics engineering - reviewing all operational parameters to continuously improve the aircraft availability and maintainability of the aircraft/engine once in operation by operator
    • All field support engineering to support the operation of the aircraft at all locations including repair development (Includes composite repair and analysis development)
    • Manufacturing engineering - specialists in traditional manufacturing as well as additive manufacturing
    • Materials and Process Engineering - responsible for maintaining process standards and material standards used in the accomplishment of maintenance - leveraging the production process standards used to manufacture the aircraft but may need certain maintenance specific standards developed
    • Stress analysis and failure analysis -capable of performing complex stress analysis along with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis as well as failure analysis to support complex repair, aging aircraft concerns, and failure investigations
    • Tooling development - develop necessary tools to allow for ongoing maintenance tasks, repair tasks, overhaul/check type visits, etc.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance


    US Salary Range

    $206,000 - $309,000 USD

    The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Anduril's total compensation package.
