The Opportunity:

Ever-expanding technology like IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence means that there's more structured and unstructured data available today than ever before. As a data engineer, you know that organizing data can yield pivotal insights when it's gathered from disparate sources. We need an experienced data engineer like you to help our clients find answers in their data to impact important missions- from personnel security, to insider threat, to i ndustrial security, and ultimately to national intelligence.

Our Team is developing a cloud native data mesh and data layer to support implementation of an agency-wide enterprise data strategy, including data discovery, data sharing, and comprehensive data governance. The system will include the ability for data owners to control their own data within the ecosystem within "producer domains" and publish data to internal and external data users through "consumer domains ".

As a data engineer at Booz Allen, you'll help build advanced technology solutions and implement data engineering activities on some of the most mission-driven projects in the industry. You'll deploy and develop pipelines and platforms that organize and make disparate data meaningful.

Here, you'll work with and guide a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, data and cloud engineers, developers, and data consumers in a fast-paced, agile environment. You'll use your experience in analytical exploration and data examination while you manage the assessment, design, building, and maintenance of scalable platforms for your clients.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in application development
  • 5+ years of experience with designing, developing, operationalizing and maintaining complex data applications at enterprise scale
  • 3+ years of experience with creating software for retrieving, parsing and processing structured and unstructured data
  • 3+ years of experience with developing and maintaining scalable data stores that supply big data in forms needed for business analysis and building scalable ETL and ELT workflows for reporting and analytics
  • 3+ years of experience in working with CI/CD tools, including GitLab
  • Experience in creating solutions within a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats and support project team to scale, monitor and operate data platforms
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to obtain DoD 8570.01-M compliant IAT II Cybersecurity Certification, including CompTIA Security+, and Computing Environment Certification, including AWS CCP or higher, within 30-day s of hire


Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with Python, SQL, Scala, or Jav a
  • Experience with UNIX and Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting
  • Experience with a public cloud service providers, including AWS
  • E xperience with infrastructure-as-Code ( IaC ) tools, such as Terraform or Terragrunt
  • Experience with distributed data and computing tools, including AWS EMR, Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, or Kafka
  • Experience with designing and implementing data engineering solutions using AWS services, such as Glue, Lambda, S3, and Step Functions
  • Experience with data warehousing using AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake
  • Experience in integrating with data governance t echnologies , including Collibra and AWS Lake Formation
  • Top Secret clearance preferred
  • AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate Certification preferred

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $77,600.00 to $176,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
