POSITION SUMMARY
As a Satellite Ground Systems Operator/Maintainer II in support of the Enhanced Polar System Operations and Maintenance II (EPS OMII) program, you will be responsible for the real-time management of operational SATCOM networks, mitigating risks and ensuring mission success under time-sensitive conditions. This in-person role, based at Clear Space Force Station (SFS), AK, requires an active Top Secret (TS) Clearance with SCI eligibility. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end maintenance and troubleshooting of SATCOM systems, ensuring seamless communications quality across all nodes. You will oversee RF, electrical, and SATCOM equipment, manage Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), and support operational level maintenance (OLM) activities. Additionally, you will serve as a key contributor to system planning, cryptologic management, and engineering assessments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Apply skills to guide and support operational maintenance, troubleshooting, and planning activities.
- Support daily on-console payload operations.
- Perform hardware and software maintenance following established procedures and policies and ensuring all maintenance procedures are current and up to date.
- Execute tasks on non-operationally accepted systems, applying sound judgment in the absence of formal guidance.
- Track maintenance actions and report any deficiencies with mission equipment using established procedures.
- Contribute to developing and implementing procedures, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.
- Support the Director of Operations (DO) with contract documentation deliverables.
- Assist with assessments of new program requirements and system integration needs.
- Implement corrosion control procedures in accordance with the Government-approved Corrosion Control Plan and work directly with the supervisor to ensure compliance.
- COMSEC Support: Serve as a COMSEC user and alternate COMSEC Responsible Officer (CRO), supporting secure communications management.
- Functional Area Monitor (FAM): Responsible for potential oversight and assistance of assigned functional areas (safety, tools, security, administration, records management)
- Support procedure development, data analysis, and other related activities as directed by management
EDUCATION/TRAINING
- Required: IAT Level II Certification upon hire
- CompTIA Security+ (preferred) or equivalent
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
- Proven background in maintenance scheduling and execution.
EXPERIENCE
- 3-5 years of experience in SATCOM operations/maintenance
- Experience in operations center processes.
- Able to autonomously perform tasks, assist and train others, and lead scoped activities under known parameters
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Real-time ground systems experience: Proficiency in ground systems operations for GEO/HEO and LEO spacecraft. Familiarity with Polar Space Orbits preferred.
- Military experience as a Cryptologic Technician or Electronics Technician, Digital Wideband Systems Maintainer, Command and Control Systems Operator, or Satellite Communications System Operator/ Maintainer.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, reach, stretch, kneel, squat.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks or motions for prolonged periods
- Must be able to carry up to 50 pounds at a time and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
- Must have sufficient physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina to complete various tasks.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces, ascend or descend ladders, and/or traverse scaffolding.
- Must be able to work in personal protective equipment including but not limited to: safety glasses, fall-protection harness, protective footwear, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is an Onsite position that requires work to be performed onsite at an Aleut location.
- Working indoors in an office environment.
- Working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and potentially austere environments.
- Potentially exposed to electrical or mechanical hazards, elevated work areas, and confined spaces.
- Potential exposure to electromagnetic frequency radiation (EMFR).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted driver's license.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.
- Must be able to pass random drug screenings.
- Must possess and be able to maintain a Top Secret with SCI eligibility clearance.
- Must be able to be cleared for base or site access.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be available for a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must hold a current IAT Level II CompTIA Security + certification (or equivalent)
