The Joint, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Interagency Division provides expert support services to a range of customers spanning across the Department of Defense, Federal Civilian, and international markets. JOID provides a diverse portfolio of analytical and programmatic capabilities to help our customers make informed decisions on their most challenging issues.

The Acquisition and Technology Analysis Group within JOID specializes in the application of multi-disciplinary analytic skills to support multiple clients within the Department of Defense (DoD). These clients include the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)), DARPA, the Joint Staff, and USINDOPACOM. SPA provides critical decision support to enabling and executing a strategy of technological superiority and enabling the delivery and sustainment of secure, resilient, and preeminent capabilities to the warfighter quickly and cost effectively. Our team of experienced military, technical, and operations research analysts is skilled in evaluating military problems, identifying the driving factors, devising innovative approaches, collecting applicable data, developing necessary software tools, and performing thorough and timely assessments to inform technology and acquisition governance decisions to ensure U.S. military forces retain military superiority in the future.

We have a near-term need for a Senior Data Analyst to provide onsite support out of the Pentagon or Mark Center.

Responsibilities

SPA has an opportunity to provide administrative and specialized support to OUSD (R&E) front offices. We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst that will provide essential management and operational support to senior OUSD (R&E) leadership, ensuring effective decision-making and strategy development. Key responsibilities include developing action and task management tools, facilitating project planning meetings, and preparing executive-level communications. The analyst will also produce comprehensive business case analyses to summarize costs, benefits, and risks, assisting leadership in making informed decisions. The role also involves the design and enhancement of office processes to improve overall productivity and effectiveness. Continuous engagement with various stakeholders will be crucial to ensure timely execution and closure of tasks and initiatives.

Qualifications

Required:
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain action and task management tools, integrating them with workflow processes.
  • Proven experience in facilitating project planning meetings and developing associated artifacts such as statements of work, charters, and Gantt charts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to interface with government personnel at all levels, including senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite, with advanced skills in developing executive-level briefings and status reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet tight deadlines while delivering high-quality work products.
  • Experience in developing business case analyses that assess costs, benefits, and risks associated with various actions.
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Able to work fully onsite based on client needs.

Desired:
  • Experience and skills in project management, operational management, strategy development and planning, communication and/or executive decision support.
  • Advanced education or certification.
  • Experience in a DoD staff environment and understanding of its operational procedures.
  • Familiarity with process design, implementation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
