Techead has an immediate need for a highly experienced and cleared Senior System Administrator to join our team in Annapolis, Maryland. This is a 100% onsite position, critical for maintaining vital IT systems and orchestrating efficient baseline configuration management for a key Maryland customer.
About the Role
As a Senior System Administrator, you'll be responsible for all operational aspects of the development and test environments associated with an exciting and nationally significant capability. You'll manage every facet of the related Information Technology (IT) systems, including user accounts, baselines, compliance, availability, and performance. Your typical duties will encompass health and status monitoring of both hardware and software, automated deployments of baselines, patches, services, and configurations. You'll also handle defect and problem resolution, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and schedule system events or inventory various client/server/storage/network/mobile/support devices.
Specific and specialized tasks will require proficiency in Linux commands and navigation, expertise in virtualized/containerized hosting designs and implementations (including but not limited to VMware/ESXi, Docker, etc.), and extensive experience with automated deployment and baseline configuration tools such as Ansible. You'll also be involved with Windows/Active Directory, customer/stakeholder presentations, interfacing with ISSO and Enterprise Security representatives, and executing request/service trouble-ticket systems. Experience with CI/CD implementations using Gitlab and proficiency with the Atlassian Suite (Confluence, JIRA, etc.) is a plus.
What You'll Be Doing:
Maintaining critical IT systems and orchestrating novel and efficient baseline configuration management.
Performing health and status monitoring of hardware and software components.
Executing automated deployments of baselines, patches, services, and configurations.
Resolving defects and problems, communicating with stakeholders, and scheduling system events or inventorying devices.
Managing all operational aspects of development and test environments, ensuring compliance, availability, and performance.
Demonstrating proficiency in Linux commands and navigation.
Designing and implementing virtualized/containerized hosting solutions (e.g., VMware/ESXi, Docker).
Utilizing Ansible for automated deployment and baseline configuration.
Working with Windows/Active Directory environments.
Delivering presentations to customers and stakeholders.
Interfacing with ISSO and Enterprise Security representatives.
Resolving trouble tickets and service requests.
Leveraging Gitlab for CI/CD implementations (a plus).
Utilizing Atlassian Suite tools like Confluence and JIRA (a plus).
Identifying, gathering, and reporting key performance and compliance metrics.
Applying knowledge of network security architecture concepts (topology, protocols, components, principles).
Reviewing security designs.
Assisting with disaster recovery and continuity of operations planning.
Participating in enterprise incident response programs.
Requirements:
Twenty (20) years of demonstrated experience as a System Administrator in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
Excellent planning and communication skills, with the ability to professionally interact with software developers, policy stakeholders, and leadership.
Familiarity with System Security Assessment processes.
Expertise with tools such as Gitlab, VMware, Linux (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu), Ansible, Active Directory, and security compliance applications like Nessus.
Knowledge of disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans.
Knowledge of enterprise incident response programs, roles, and responsibilities.
IAT II compliance (e.g., Security+ certification).
Active TS/SCI with a current Full Scope Polygraph for the Maryland Customer is required.
Ability to receive privileged access rights.
