Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing scalable data pipelines and infrastructure, with a focus on AWS cloud services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support data-driven applications and analytics, ensuring efficient data flow and accessibility. The ideal candidate will thrive in an Agile project management setting and possess a strong background in data management and processing. The position is in Herndon, VA.
Responsibilities:
* Design and implement robust data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources into data warehouses
* Develop and maintain data models and schemas to support analytics and reporting needs
* Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and analysts to integrate data solutions into applications and workflows
* Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and scalability
* Ensure data quality and integrity through validation, testing, and monitoring
* Implement data security and compliance measures in accordance with organizational policies
* Utilize AWS services such as S3 and RDS for data storage and processing
* Develop APIs and interfaces to facilitate data access and integration
* Participate in Agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning and reviews
* Document data engineering processes, architectures, and best practices
Requirements:
* 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software development, or related fields.
* Strong experience with SQL and relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL
* Expertise with SQL scripting, database indexing, and optimization techniques
* Proficient in working with views, triggers, and stored procedures
* Experience in developing, creating, and modifying data structures and load routines for business use
* Hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g., S3, RDS, Glue, Redshift)
* Familiarity with data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing concepts
* Experience with API development and integration
* Knowledge of data security and compliance standards
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders
* US Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required
Desired Experience:
* Experience with AWS Cloud Data Migration Services
* Familiarity with Jira for project tracking and management
* Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
* Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
* Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
* AWS certifications related to data engineering or architecture
