Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
Completion of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) Uniformed Police Training Program is a condition of continued employment. Employee will be required to sign a continuing service agreement prior to travel to the academy.
"Agreement to Continue in Service - CSA, Agency requires 36 months of continued employment after the completion of required training from the FLETC in accordance with Title 5 USC 4108 and 5 CFR410.309. Failure to voluntary complete length of employment requirement can subject employee to reimburse to the agency for fees, such as tuition and related fees, travel, and other special expenses (excluding salary) paid in connection with the training."

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Recurring and unpredictably strenuous physical effort is exerted when apprehending, subduing, and detaining persons, performing body searches, and using unarmed self-defense techniques. Must be able to routinely lift 50 lbs and be able to carry or move persons weighing 180 lbs., such as accident or crime victims and hostile suspects
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment regularly involves high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress which require a range of safety and other precautions (e.g., subject to possible physical attack by human means and/or various substances, weapons or firearms). Routinely performs duties outdoors in various weather, climates, conditions, and temperatures.
A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments.

- You will detect and investigate unusual situations and use force to restrain and apprehend violators.
- You will implement official operating plans, policies, and instructions for the protection and preservation of life and property.
- You will articulate directions and instructions to officers on patrol assignments using emergency radio procedures.
- You will orient new law enforcement employees with work requirements, schedules, expectations, and general rules for performance.
- You will maintain compliance with procedures for detaining suspects.

- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
- Must successfully complete/pass require Commander, Navy Installations Command directed Navy Security Forces Training Course, as well as reoccurring training requirements.
- Required to receive training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray (pepper spray) in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area.
- Must pass a sanctioned Physical Agility Test, medical evaluation and pass periodic re-tests as required.
- Swim qualified to perform Harbor Patrol duties.
