Duties

As a LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST at the GS-0346-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
  • Serve as Command focal point and technical expert on a wide range of transportation and logistics issues related to airlift, sealift, and surface transportation.
  • Develop and implement transportation management/logistics/doctrine policy, procedures, and guidance necessary for effective and efficient movement of airlift, sealift, or surface transportation utilizing the Global Distribution Network (GDN).
  • Research, analyze, and act on complex commercial, inter-service, intermodal, and international transportation management, transportation operations, and logistics issues.
  • Develop military construction products and future GDN infrastructure requirements for CONUS and overseas.
  • Prepares a variety of communications products, such as articles, papers, and briefings, intended for audiences of all levels including senior government officials or industry executives.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS- 13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
  • Utilize programs, procedures and analysis to identify gaps and limitations related to mobility infrastructure fixed facilities, including aerial and seaports, force generation or agreements.
  • Inform command priorities, requirements, and anticipate and identify courses of action to address issues associated with mobility requirements, to include infrastructure, forces or agreements.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, including officials in OSD, the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, or other government agencies.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
