Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Network Engineer Tier 2, to support the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Agency OCIO. Responsibilities of the Network Engineer Tier 2 include:
- Deploy and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches, VPNs, and security devices, to ensure optimal network performance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance using diagnostic tools, resolving issues and implementing improvements based on best practices.
- Apply security patches and updates to all network devices to maintain compliance and protect against vulnerabilities.
- Lead or support network projects, offering technical input and ensuring timely execution aligned with organizational goals.
- Collaborate across teams to resolve complex network issues, ensuring minimal disruption to voice, video, and data services.
Qualifications for the Network Engineer Tier 2 include:
- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to understand and respond effectively to client needs.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking (IOS/NX-OS), Palo Alto firewalls and VPNs, and familiarity with secure communication devices like Taclanes or GEMOne.
- Proficient in Windows and Unix/Linux systems, with expertise in network security, traffic analysis, incident response, and system hardening.
- Solid understanding of Layer 2/3 networking and encryption protocols, including BGP, VLAN, IPsec, TLS/SSL, SSH, and 802.1x.
- Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines.
Compensation for the Network Engineer Tier 2 include:
- Salary: $135,000 - $150,000
- Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays
