This position requires US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD clearance. Candidates who are not eligible for a DoD clearance are not eligible for hire. This is a remote position, however candidates must live within a reasonable driving distance of Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA.

Day in the life:
  • Independently deploy, configure, and manage a wide range of cloud resources (e.g., compute, storage, networking, databases, serverless functions) across one or more major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Monitor cloud resource utilization, performance metrics, and costs, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements
  • Implement cost-saving strategies (e.g., reserved instances, spot instances, rightsizing, auto-scaling) and provide recommendations to reduce cloud spend.
  • Design and implement scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant cloud solutions
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of cloud operational activities, performance data, and security logs to identify trends, root causes of issues, and areas for improvement
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reports and dashboards on cloud performance, cost, security posture, and compliance
  • Contribute to the development of cloud strategies, roadmaps, and architectural designs
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into practical, scalable, and secure cloud solutions
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments of cloud environments
  • Ensure cloud deployments adhere to internal security policies, industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST), and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2)
  • Assist in developing and maintaining cloud governance policies and procedures
  • Proficiently use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager) to provision and manage cloud resources in a repeatable and version-controlled manner
  • Drive process improvements and reengineering efforts for cloud operations, incident management, and change management.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native applications
  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex cloud infrastructure and application issues, performing root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Act as an escalation point for junior team members for intricate cloud problems
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including development, security, network, and business stakeholders, to deliver integrated cloud solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior cloud analysts
  • Present technical information and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree 3-4 years of experience, Associate degree 5-6 years relevant experience, or no degree 7-8 years relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
  • US Citizenship
  • Familiarity with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform). This includes understanding their core services (compute, storage, networking) and how they function
  • Ability to utilize data analysis tools and techniques (e.g., SQL, visualization software, statistical analysis) to identify patterns and trends within cloud data.
  • Strong aptitude for identifying, analyzing, and resolving technical issues within cloud environments
  • Understanding how to determine client requirements and translate them into cloud solutions
  • Ability to analyze operational activities to derive quantitative insights for decision-making and resource allocation
  • Ability to monitor system performance, identify issues, and perform basic troubleshooting
  • Skill in creating and maintaining documentation related to cloud architecture, configurations, and processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, collaborating with developers, operations, and other stakeholders
  • Strong desire to continuously learn and adapt to new cloud technologies and trends
  • Ability to think critically and strategically to solve complex problems
Preferred Skills:
  • Certifications: Relevant associate or professional-level cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer).
  • Active Secret Clearance
Benefit selection, customer contractual specifications, relevant work experience, skills, competencies, certifications, and clearance status will influence the final salary.
Full benefits: $97,000 to $139,000 annually
Reduced benefits (no medical, dental, vision): Up to $151,000 annually
