Full benefits: $148,000 to $229,000 annually

Day in the life:
- Drive the design of highly scalable, available, secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures for enterprise-level applications and infrastructure
- Contribute significantly to the organization's overall cloud strategy, roadmap, and adoption framework
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of new cloud technologies, tools, and services, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices
- Establish and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across various cloud projects and teams
- Tackle the most challenging technical problems, often involving multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities
- Serve as a technical lead for complex cloud development projects, often acting as a principal engineer or lead developer on critical components
- Develop and enforce advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies, managing complex cloud environments through automation
- Champion and implement advanced CI/CD, GitOps, and potentially MLOps practices, integrating security (DevSecOps) and quality gates throughout the development lifecycle
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in cloud applications and infrastructure, optimizing resource utilization and cost
- Embed security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC2, GDPR, HIPAA) into the architectural design and development process from the outset
- Design and implement robust disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity strategies for critical cloud systems
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior and mid-level cloud engineers, fostering their growth and development
- Collaborate extensively with product owners, enterprise architects, security teams, and business stakeholders to ensure technical solutions meet broader organizational needs
- Act as a cloud subject matter expert, influencing technical decisions across the organization and advocating for cloud-native principles.
- Implement sophisticated monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions to provide deep insights into system health, performance, and user experience
- Lead post-incident reviews and provide deep technical analysis for critical outages and performance issues
- Drive initiatives for cloud cost optimization, implementing FinOps principles to ensure efficient resource consumption
- Identify, prioritize, and propose solutions for technical debt within cloud systems
- Bachelor's degree with 6 years of relevant experience, Associate degree with 8 years relevant experience, or 10 years relevant experience with no degree
- Active Secret clearance
- US Citizenship
- Proficiency and significant hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), including their advanced services
- Multiple expert-level certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect/DevOps Engineer) are highly preferred
- Proficiency in multiple relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, C#, Node.js) for cloud-native development and automation
- Deep expertise and leadership experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi), including module development, state management, and enterprise-level deployments
- Advanced experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and serverless technologies, including designing and managing complex Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS, GKE) and optimizing containerized workloads
- Proven track record of designing, implementing, and optimizing complex CI/CD pipelines and a deep understanding of DevOps best practices, including GitOps, automated testing, and release management
- Strong understanding of cloud networking principles (VPC design, VPNs, direct connect, load balancing, DNS) and advanced cloud security concepts (Zero Trust, WAF, DDoS protection, security auditing, data encryption, compliance frameworks)
- Extensive experience with various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, data warehouses, streaming data platforms) and strategies for data migration, replication, and disaster recovery in the cloud
- Progressive experience in cloud engineering, software development, DevOps, or a related field, with a significant portion dedicated to designing and implementing large-scale cloud systems
- Proven experience leading technical projects and mentoring other engineers
- Experience with migrating legacy applications to the cloud and optimizing existing cloud workloads
- Demonstrated experience with architecting and implementing solutions for high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance.
- Ability to see the "big picture," connect technical solutions to business objectives, and anticipate future needs
- Superior analytical and diagnostic skills to resolve highly complex and ambiguous technical challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and motivate cross-functional teams without direct authority
- Passion for coaching, guiding, and empowering other engineers
