Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer with a strong background in tooling, mechanical assembly processes, and production support to lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team. This role involves providing technical direction, ensuring producibility, leading tool design reviews, authoring technical documentation, and supporting both proposal and production phases. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing execution systems, along with a proven track record of improving efficiency and driving innovation in tooling and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership and direction to a team of three senior-level engineers.
Review post-production modifications and participate in tooling design evaluations to ensure feasibility and compliance with design intent.
Guide the Design team on optimal manufacturing techniques aligned with engineering requirements.
Author and maintain comprehensive Tool Usage Instructions.
Define detailed sequences of operations for product builds and initiate corrective actions for non-conforming products.
Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives to enhance producibility and affordability.
Participate in proposal and cost estimation efforts.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
Support first-time tool prove-out at customer sites as necessary.
Identify and resolve inefficiencies in current processes; initiate and optimize new workflow strategies.
Maintain and manage all related documentation and contribute to process and design reviews.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with at least 8 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents.
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience in mechanical assembly processes and tooling development.
Skilled in root cause analysis, technical writing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience guiding technicians, managing processing documentation, and reviewing designs.
Hands-on experience with non-conforming material review and hardware disposition.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a STEM or manufacturing engineering-related field.
Experience in military or defense production environments.
Familiarity with Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRR) and transition from design to production.
Working knowledge of SAP, Model-Based Engineering (MBE), and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
Strong project management skills with the ability to independently drive complex assignments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP tools.
Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of leadership, vendors, and clients.
Knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
