Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal System Test Engineer (Level 3) to join the team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of the MQ-4C Triton program test activities. This position will be located at San Diego, CA.

The Triton Test IPT is looking for a highly motivated individual to join a diverse, high performing Test & Evaluation (T&E) team in the successful analysis of System Level 3 requirements, development and execution of System Level 3 test procedures, and continuous maintenance and improvement of the Triton Systems Center and support all lab activities.

The ideal candidate should be detail oriented and have the ability to focus on first time quality, engineering rigor, and Test Like You Fly methodology.

Note: This position will currently support the 1st Shift, with the possibility of transitioning to support additional shifts in the future as business needs evolve.

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with T&E Teammates including the Test Planning & Execution team and T&E Management to successfully execute test activities and lab integration activities.
  • Communicating with multiple levels of peers and leadership.
  • Development and execution of automated and manual test cases to verify system functional requirements
  • Developing robust nominal & off-nominal test cases centered on improving the user experience
  • Working independently on assigned tasks to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement
  • Interface and present test integration and execution results to program and test leadership at pre-and-post-test reviews


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 5 years of related professional/military experience in engineering, computer science, or related field; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience in engineering, computer science, or related field; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related professional/military experience in engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Must have the ability and be willing to work overtime, odd shifts, and weekends as required by the business
  • Must have the a bility to work with minimal supervision and develop effective approaches to problem-solving independently
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated professional experience with test requirements
  • Must possess a current DoD 8570 Level 2 Certification (i.e. Security+ CE or equivalent)


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working in a lab environments
  • Knowledge of system engineering processes
  • Familiarity with the Agile development methodology
  • Familiarity with IBM Jazz
  • Familiarity with working IBM DOORS
  • Prior MQ-4C Triton experience


Salary Range: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
