Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with DoD, DA, AMC, USSOUTHCOM, and local command authority safety directives, adhering to all theater/regional commander orders and safety regulations
- Oversees the implementation of safety bulletins and reporting requirements, complying with all safety instructions issued by applicable authorities
- Distributes information on safe working practices to the workforce and conducts regular safety meetings in consultation with the USSOUTHCOM TPOC, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Manages compliance with OSHA regulations regarding personal protective equipment (PPE), ensuring contractor personnel are equipped with necessary safety clothing and gear, such as steel-toe shoes, coveralls, gloves, goggles, hearing protection, and hard hats
- Monitors contractor personnel adherence to safety requirements and tracks PPE usage and effectiveness in maintaining a safe work environment
- Coordinates the cleaning and maintenance of work areas, including sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and the cleaning of tools and equipment, maintaining safe, clean, and environmentally supportive facilities
- Manages safety measures in handling hazardous materials and spill management, including proper use of spill containment tools such as drip pans and the prompt cleanup of any hazardous substances, following MSDS guidelines
- Oversees the environmental cleanliness of surrounding areas, maintaining compliance with military installation standards such as litter policing, lawn maintenance, and snow removal from walkways
- Collaborates with the USSOUTHCOM TPOC to determine the time allocation for site-specific labor charges related to cleaning and safety activities, adjusting as necessary based on operational needs
- Leads safety training initiatives and prepares safety reports, maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders to report safety performance and risks
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor 's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygine , Environmental Health or related field
- 10+ years of experience in safety and health management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong understanding of OSHA standards, DoD safety policies, and other regulatory frameworks
- Experience conducting hazard analysis, developing JSAs, and implementing mitigation strategies
- Proficient in the use of safety data systems and risk management tools
- Excellent verbal, written , and interpersonal communication skills
Desired:
- Master's degree in related field
- Experience in a government, military, or defense-related environment
- Familiarity with DoD Instructions 6055 series and ARMY/OSHA regulations
- Experience managing safety on construction or industrial sites
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Clearance:
- Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI
Certification:
- DoD 8570 Baseline & CE certifications are required for all positions and may vary slightly depending on the skillset required to perform the role
- CompTIA Security+ CE
