Duties
As an High Voltage Electrician Training Leader, the primary purpose of this position is to instruct and lead Air Force Civil Engineering personnel in the operation of electrical systems and to perform duties associated with the operation of electrical systems and their components.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess the experience or training which demonstrate the ability to lead other technicians engaged in duties performed by this occupational series.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must possess the 24 months of experience to include: 1) ability to lead 3 or more workers in performing trades and labor training assignments; 2) knowledge of electrical theory such as power factors and that which is applicable to transformers, series and parallel circuits, line loading, line losses, etc.; 3) Ability to read and comprehend circuit diagrams and schematics; 4) installing, maintaining, repairing, and modifying high- voltage electrical systems and major substation components of electrical systems; 5) diagnosing trouble and determining remedy when complex relationships exist among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of all electrical units and systems; and 6) making high-voltage electrical repairs that required the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools.

- Plans, develops and validates training.
- Prepares performance evaluations on each student in accordance with Electrical War Skills Plan of Instruction (POI).
- Instructs and evaluates students on installing, maintaining, and repairing interior and exterior, overhead, and underground, electrical power distribution systems and components such as capacitor banks, vacuum and air break switches, breakers, transformers, fuses, lighting fixtures, receptacles, and motors.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs cathodic protection and grounding systems, and voltage and current regulators.
- Advises, trains, and evaluates students for electrical power distribution and special purpose electrical systems installation to include repairing deficiencies.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the ND National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
