Overview
Join our team as a Data Scientist and help turn complex data into actionable solutions that drive real-world impact. In this role, you'll collaborate with clients across public and private sectors to understand their objectives and uncover meaningful insights from structured and unstructured data. You'll apply your expertise in IoT, machine learning, and AI to develop models, algorithms, and analytical systems that address critical challenges in areas such as fraud detection, healthcare, and national security.

Travel: None
Location: Onsite in Reston, VA initially, with the position expected to relocate to Ft. Belvoir in approximately one year. The selected candidate will work as part of a broader team to provide ongoing coverage and support throughout both phases.
Security Clearance: Must be a United States Citizen and hold a current TS-SCI security clearance.
Adherence to all customer site protocols is mandatory for employees.

- Analyze and interpret structured and unstructured data to extract meaningful insights
- Explore data-rich environments to identify patterns, trends, and relevant information
- Transform complex datasets into objective, actionable insights to support client decision-making
Advanced Technologies & Solutions Development
- Apply expertise in IoT, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to solve real-world challenges
- Lead the development of algorithms, models, and analytical systems
- Select and apply appropriate tools and frameworks to analyze and interpret diverse data sets
Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with clients across public and private sectors to understand their data needs and objectives
- Deliver clear explanations of data significance and applications to clients and stakeholders
Team Leadership & Mission Impact
- Guide and support teammates in data science tasks and project execution
- Contribute to mission-driven projects that address global issues such as fraud detection, healthcare, and national security
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in applied data science or ML roles, including using Python and NLP and LLM implementation
- 5+ years of experience with data exploration, data cleaning, data analysis, data visualization, or data mining
- Experience with production-level systems, data lake environments, and streaming data, including Kafka
- Experience implementing end-to-end ML workflows from data prep to deployment and evaluation
- Ability to quickly learn infrastructure or systems concepts, including how pipelines interface with data lakes
- Ability to design, implement, and iterate on ML models for document classification, extraction, summarization, and search
- Ability to take ownership of data science workflows that interact with a production system streaming millions of documents per week
- TS/SCI clearance - (must have already)
- Bachelor's degree
Desired
- Experience in collaborating with MLOps and infrastructure engineers to ensure robust model deployment, monitoring, and retraining pipelines
- Experience supporting platform components such as documents indexing or search, GPU workloads, and distributed storage, including Cloudera
- Experience in the development of algorithms leveraging R, Python, SQL, or NoSQL
- Experience with Distributed data or computing tools, including MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL
- Experience with visualization packages, including Plotly, Seaborn, or ggplot2
