In this role, you will be using your skills and expertise to develop and maintain a company-wide database of standard and custom CAD parts and assemblies. Projects within SNC cover a very wide range, from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems.
As the Mechanical Computer-Aided-Design (MCAD) Designer: CAD Parts Librarian, you will be responsible for curating and maintaining a database of common mechanical CAD parts. You will develop 3D CAD models using vendor datasheets, industry, military and company standards. You will work closely with design engineers and supply chain on creating CAD parts and maintaining an up to date and accurate parts database. You will also be responsible for driving process decisions, automating, and supporting the integration of our library with other internal tools

Responsibilites:
- Develop, organize, and maintain the CAD library, including 3D models, 2D drawings, standard parts, and materials.
- Create and update library CAD models and drawings based on engineering request.
Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with industry standards and company guidelines in all CAD files. - Conduct regular audits of the CAD library to identify and resolve discrepancies or outdated information.
- Provide training and support to engineering team members on the proper use of the CAD library and related tools.
- Assist in the development and implementation of CAD best practices and workflows.
Stay current with advancements in CAD software and technologies to recommend improvements to the CAD library system.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and typically 2+ years of relevant experience
- A higher level degree may substitute for experience
- Associates degree in drafting or other related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering drawings.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with version control systems and best practices for managing CAD files.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
- Experience with technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manual and/or publications
- Basic knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware and/or electrical component selection, fabrication, manufacturing, and production processes
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Background in the Aerospace & Defense Industry
- Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles
Exposure to Documentation Control Database and/or Materials Resource Planning (MRP) system - Knowledge of industry standards such as ASME, ISO, ANSI and IPC
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
