The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures DoD systems, equipment, and services meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and compliance with federal regulations. This role involves developing and implementing quality assurance programs, conducting audits and inspections, and ensuring contract deliverables align with mission-critical requirements. The QA Specialist works closely with engineering, production, and acquisition teams to identify and mitigate risks, resolve deficiencies, and maintain operational readiness.
Due to the sensitive nature of the systems and processes under review, candidates must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance Planning and Execution
- Develop and implement quality assurance programs, plans, and procedures to ensure compliance with DoD regulations and contractual requirements.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and performance evaluations to verify adherence to technical standards, specifications, and requirements.
- Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards, and reporting tools to track quality trends and program performance.
- Perform detailed reviews and analyses of production processes, system designs, and operational workflows to identify risks and potential deficiencies.
- Recommend corrective actions and process improvements to address non-compliance, reduce defects, and enhance system reliability.
- Lead root cause analyses (RCAs) on quality issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
- Evaluate supplier and contractor quality processes, ensuring compliance with DoD standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and ANSI guidelines.
- Conduct site inspections of vendor facilities and review manufacturing processes to ensure alignment with quality assurance standards.
- Monitor contractor performance and assist with quality risk identification and mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed quality inspection reports, corrective action plans, and assessments for leadership and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, and performance evaluations consistent with government policies and standards.
- Provide timely updates to leadership regarding quality performance, risks, and recommended solutions.
- Oversee testing and certification of systems and equipment, ensuring all deliverables meet technical and mission-specific requirements.
- Ensure quality assurance programs align with cybersecurity and operational security requirements.
- Verify resolution of system deficiencies prior to deployment or program close-out.
- Extensive knowledge of DoD regulations, NIST standards, and federal acquisition requirements related to quality assurance.
- Proficiency in quality control methodologies, statistical process control (SPC), and risk management frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and improve program performance.
- Exceptional communication skills for interfacing with cross-functional teams, contractors, and DoD leadership.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment with strict deadlines.
Basic Qualifications
- Security Clearance : Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Education : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related field. Equivalent military or professional experience may be considered.
- Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance, technical inspection, or DoD program management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality control processes within defense acquisition or federal programs.
- Certifications :
- Preferred certifications include Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Six Sigma Black Belt, or ASQ-certified inspector credentials.
- Familiarity with software tools such as MATLAB, SAP Quality Module, or integrated quality management systems is desirable.
