Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Experience conducting law enforcement patrols, responding to emergency incidents, and making arrests in accordance with applicable laws and procedures; 2. Experience leading or supervising law enforcement personnel by assigning duties, reviewing reports, and evaluating performance; 3. Experience enforcing installation access control procedures, conducting vehicle or personnel inspections, and applying antiterrorism or force protection measures; and 4. Experience using law enforcement databases or systems (e.g., NCIC) to enter and retrieve information, and preparing incident or investigative reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08.
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute you education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirements using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience permitted.

- Serve as a shift supervisor overseeing police officers responsible for law enforcement, emergency response, and patrol duties on the installation.
- Respond to incidents and conducts criminal investigations involving search, detention, and collection of evidence for use in legal proceedings.
- Lead waterside security and harbor patrol operations, including vessel inspections and enforcement of maritime exclusion zones.
- Implement access control, antiterrorism, and force protection procedures to secure personnel, equipment, and classified materials.
- Assign and monitors work performed by subordinates, evaluates performance, and provides training and guidance.
- Use law enforcement systems and tools to maintain reports, enter data, and support criminal justice and investigative activities.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
- These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
- Must meet requirements of AR 190-56: (1) Successfully pass pre-employment and recurring physicals; (2) Pass Physical Agility Test (PAT); (3) Comply with and maintain requirements of Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
- The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
- Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
- Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
- Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a valid (Secret) security investigation.
- Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
- Temporary duty (TDY) is required less than 25% of the time.
- Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
- Must obtain and retain one or more of the following U.S. Coast Guard licenses: Small Boat Captains Operator of -Un-Inspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) License, U.S. Army Marine Certification IAW Chapter 5, AR 56-9,
- or a Military Ocean Terminal Harbor Patrol Coxswain appointment within a year of being appointed to this position. Failure to meet this requirements could lead to disciplinary actions.
- Within the first 2 years, boat crew members must complete a swim assessment, Basic Maritime Officers course (BMOC), Advanced Basic Maritime Officers course, Rescue Boat Operations course,
- National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) courses- Basic Crew Member, Boat Search and Rescue and Tactical Operator, Boat safety course and MOT personnel qualification standard.
