Overview:
10x National Security is seeking an experienced and mission-driven AWS Architect and Cloud Engineer (SME Level) to support our growing portfolio within the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) framework. This role will be embedded within a high-impact DoD program, enabling secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure that empowers multi-domain operations, data-driven decision-making, and software modernization at mission speed.
The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader guiding the design, implementation, and optimization of AWS services under JWCC while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity and mission assurance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of secure, scalable, and cost-optimized AWS environments aligned with DoD reference architectures and JWCC offerings.
Support the migration of mission systems, data pipelines, and applications to IL5 and IL6-authorized AWS cloud environments.
Develop Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK to provision and manage cloud resources.
Integrate cloud-native services such as AWS Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, and IAM to meet mission-specific requirements.
Coordinate closely with cybersecurity teams to implement Zero Trust Architecture principles and ensure FedRAMP High/DISA STIG compliance.
Support the implementation of multi-cloud hybrid solutions across JWCC CSPs (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle) while acting as the AWS SME.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud performance, reliability, and security issues.
Mentor engineers and collaborate with DevSecOps, software development, and cybersecurity teams in an Agile/SAFe environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
8+ years of experience in IT, with 5+ years of hands-on AWS architecture and engineering experience.
Deep understanding of AWS core services, security controls, networking, storage, and identity management.
Expertise with DoD cloud authorization processes (IL5/IL6), and working knowledge of the JWCC contract structure and offerings.
Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform preferred) and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins, CodePipeline).
Strong grasp of container orchestration (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes) and serverless computing paradigms.
Demonstrated experience integrating logging, monitoring, and observability frameworks in cloud-native environments.
Ability to obtain and maintain 8570 IAT Level II (e.g., Security+).
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or Advanced Networking Specialty.
Prior experience supporting a DoD or IC customer cloud migration under JWCC or similar programs.
Familiarity with DevSecOps frameworks (Platform One, Iron Bank, etc.).
Experience with IL2-IL6 cross-domain architectures, multi-tenant enclaves, and data labeling strategies.
