Rivet Operations Company has an opening for a SAP Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our rapidly growing team in the Norfolk VA area. The SAP Subject Matter Expert provides specialized expertise in the Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (NERP) system to support the Military Sealift Command's (MSC) Comptroller Directorate (N8). This role is critical for sustaining and improving NERP functionality across key financial and logistics modules, supporting business process integration, and enabling audit readiness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide technical advice, analysis, and recommendations on NERP functionalities such as Financial Accounting (FI), Funds Management (FM), Controlling (CO), Asset Accounting (AA), Materials Management (MM), Project Systems (PS), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Workforce Management (WFM).
* Support MSCïs NERP sustainment, integration, migration, and training efforts by leveraging subject matter expertise to drive efficiency and compliance.
* Assist with the development and delivery of training materials to support user adoption of NERP processes and functions.
* Facilitate business intelligence (BI) efforts by supporting data extraction, reporting, analytics, and data warehousing initiatives.
* Participate in requirements gathering, documentation, testing, release management, and change management activities for NERP-related projects.
* Provide Tier 2 support for troubleshooting NERP issues, managing tickets, and ensuring timely resolution of user-reported problems.
* Assist in periodic financial reconciliations, including sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliations, to maintain data integrity in NERP.
* Support knowledge transfer by documenting processes and procedures for recurring NERP tasks.
* Contribute to audit readiness by ensuring NERP configurations and processes support compliance with applicable accounting standards and DoD financial regulations.
Education and Experience:
* Senior SME: Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university and at least 5 years of relevant experience with Navy ERP or SAP
Systems Applications Business Objects Tools. Alternatively, 7+ years of relevant experience without a bachelors degree.
* Mid-level SME: Bachelors degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience with Navy ERP/SAP modules; or 6+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
Skills for all levels:
* Documented customer service experience, preferably including work with the National Help Desk Service Manager (NHDSM) or similar systems.
* Demonstrated experience in data analysis, management, and ERP configuration.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Skills:
* Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting SAP modules, especially those used in defense or large-scale government operations.
* Familiarity with DoD Financial Management Regulations (DoD FMR) and federal audit standards.
* Experience supporting large-scale ERP implementations, upgrades, or sustainment projects.
