Department Summary:
The Enabling Capabilities Department delivers impactful engineering analyses to rapidly transform current and future warfighter operations in contested and denied environments. We accomplish this through close interaction with our United States Air Force (USAF), United States Space Force (USSF), and other sponsors as well as with senior leadership in the Intelligence, Acquisition, and Warfighting communities. Our engineering analysis is informed by intelligence assessments of both adversarial kill chains and analysis of threats to US kill chains. We conduct engineering assessments of advanced and evolving threats, perform end-to-end effects chain analysis, develop digital engineering architectures for Intelligence applications, identify potential threat mitigation options, and perform experimentation of threat mitigation capabilities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Project Leader is responsible for all aspects of the project, which encompasses a large, complex work program with multiple stakeholders and objectives. The Project Leader will have opportunities to drive and contribute to major design, investment, and requirements decisions by the DAF in developing next-generation weapons systems and warfighter capabilities. Technical functions include leading, developing and executing test and evaluation activities in support of program milestones, conducting analyses of COTS, GOTS, and custom capabilities, providing objective technical guidance to shape and define program objectives and requirements, and building and leading multi-disciplinary project teams while simultaneously managing the competing equities of multiple government program managers. This is an opportunity to develop and expand your project leadership and technical skills while contributing to a distinctive project with cross-cutting impact. This position requires initiative, creative leadership, deep technical expertise in a relevant field and demonstrated Project Management experience, as well as embracing, embodying, and executing MITRE's cultural attributes of speed, adaptability, and risk-taking. This project supports N160's AFRL sponsors as part of an integrated portfolio, and has touchpoints across the DAF, DoD, and IC.

Impact
- Provide direct technical contributions to the project
- Shape and define project tasks and workstreams to achieve greatest impact
Project Strategy
- Continually work to shape the project to maximize impact given resource constraints
- Establish and document work objectives to "go beyond" the FY boundary and to have an "exit plan" or "maturity plan"
- Establish cross-project collaborations with shared outcomes and multi-stakeholder buy-in
Staff Development
- Demonstrates and promotes MITRE's cultural attributes (speed, risk-taking, adaptability, collaboration, grace and respect)
- Provides technical leadership and mentorship across teams
- Providing regular feedback to staff and contributing to staff development
Project Execution
- Collaborate with sponsor for developing documentation for work definition and defense dollar ceiling (DDC) requests
- Managing the equities of multiple stakeholders
- Maintaining an accurate and complete staffing plan
- Completion of monthly highlights and project annual report
Technical Quality
- Execution/implementation of N161 Technical Quality norms and process
- Collaborate across MNS, MPS, and MITRE Labs to ensure the right staff are being applied
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Proven experience in electrical engineering, particularly in the context of defense and intelligence operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders
- Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience working with the United States Air Force (USAF) or United States Space Force (USSF)
- Familiarity with intelligence assessments and threat analysis
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams
