IDS International is seeking a part-time Facility Security Officer to join our headquarters office in Arlington, VA. The Facility Security Officer ensures compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manuals (NISPOM), DoD Directives, or any other US Federal security related directives.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementing all facets of security to ensure compliance with NISPOM and customer security requirements.
  • Prepares visit requests for access to job site based on appropriate clearance and need to know.
  • Obtains and maintains appropriate security clearances for all contractor site employees, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Provides all security-related briefings and training required by NISPOM and client.
  • Provides classification guidance applicable to contract performance.
  • Maintains industrial security related platforms and systems, to include NISS, DISS, and JPAS.
  • Prepare, coordinate, obtain approval for and execute security plans (Security Operating Procedures (SOP), Systems Security Plans (SSPs), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), etc).
  • Interface directly with program management to address security items specific to each program/contract. Present our security program as a value-added component of organizations business model.
  • Assist with preparing security volumes, DD254s and provide security oversight and support to business development and proposal development.
  • Conducts administrative inquiries per DSS procedures.
  • Document reviews for compliance with Government requirements.
  • Develop and deliver Security Awareness, Training, and Education briefings and products to our program personnel.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Insider Threat Program requirements.
  • Interface directly with customer and subcontractor security representatives for required reporting of personnel clearance actions and any relevant changes to our security baseline.
  • Serves as primary interface on specific facility and personnel security problems and concerns. Acts as a liaison for the Defense Security Service (DSS) Representative.
  • Provides guidance to managers and employees regarding security regulations and procedures.
  • Accomplishes annual security audit and review and bi-annual self-inspections of the facility.
  • Maintains employee security folders.
  • Provides security reports to company management and entities authorized to receive the information.

Qualifications:

  • Must have an Active Top-Secret clearance.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years of professional experience as an FSO.
  • High level of understanding of the NISPOM.
  • In-depth knowledge of the NISP and DSS Security Vulnerability Assessments.
  • Understanding of export control requirements as related to the NISP.
  • Commitment to security - creating and delivering the highest value to customers.
  • Thorough understanding of security databases.
  • Experience creating and conducting initial security briefings, debriefings, indoctrinations, pre/post foreign travel briefings and refresher briefings, as appropriate.
  • Ability to develop and establish an effective security awareness, training, and education program.
  • Industrial Security Professional (ISP) certification is desired.
  • COMSEC Custodian training is desired.

Employee needs to be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods; use hand(s) to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Most positions require ability to work on desktop or laptop computer for extended periods of time reading, reviewing/analyzing information, and providing recommendations, summaries and/or reports in written format. Must be able to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing. Employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
